"If Wishes were Fishes" is a size variable sculpture installation, in which 2” clay fish are placed in rows on the floor or wall

Each fish is hand sculpted, and tagged with a randomly generated, hand written number ranging between 1 and 500,000. The number of fish varies, dependent on the space

This piece is a commentary on both our engagement with the environment and our world, on how we can desensitize ourselves to large events by making them  seem smaller, describing them in terms of 1 single thing rather than a multitude of smaller ones. For example "a school of fish washed up on the shore" vs "500,000 individual fish washed up on the shore

This piece relates to both environmental and humanitarian crises. It is also meant to bring attention to the fact that small actions contribute to larger ones.
